A problem with GTA SA Win Vista/7 - Fromrum Friday

Hello All! :)

I hope this new year is going on good for you all my friends and dear readers! :)

So recently, I re-installed a game that I played a lot 2 or 3 years ago. It is Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Since now I too use Windows 7(I have used 95,98,me,200,XP,Vista also), so I thought the game might give a better performance than that on XP. but to my amazement, it was same as Windows Vista! A havoc!!

The problem that I encountered was that my mouse never worked in the game. These are the days of the USB mice, so I don't know if they encounter the problem with a PS/2 mouse too, I am using a USB one, and I had problems! At first I thought it was just the menu where it didn't work, but no! it never worked in the game too! huh!

There was a small way I found out to overcome this problem. That was to repeatedly press "Esc" until the mouse starts working. This way the game ran perfectly a couple of times, and as soon as I became happy, I came to know - uh! I got happy a bit too soon! huh!! The game started to crash after some instances of pressing "Esc". Not only that, if in case, my mouse started to work properly, it would go off suddenly! duh!!

Anyways, I re-installed Windows XP, and saw that XP didn't show this problem. For a moment I saluted Microsoft for such a shitty bug in it's much hype-gathering Operating System Windows 7(I won't say that about Vista, because much had been said against it already by the whole world! LOL!).

So the solution! Well, I searched the Internet, and found that many users had the same problem as I was facing. And then!! I cam across the permanent and working solution for it! yayyy!! :D As a token of my gratitude, I would like to share the link too. It's there at the end of the post.

So the solution is : Change the game properties and run it in compatibility mode under Windows 98/Me. How to do this? Simple! Follow these steps :

STEP 1. Right click the GTA shortcut.

STEP 2. In the menu click Properties.

STEP 3. A Properties window will come up. Click the Compatibility tab.

STEP 4. Under Compatablitly mode, check the box that says Run this program in compatibility mode for:
Then select Windows 98/Windows Me from the dropdown list.

The mouse problem is now solved! :) but well! Now the new thing that you would see is, when you run the game, you cannot find any saved games files. Don't worry, they are not deleted. Actually when ran under compatibility mode, the game saves its files in the "Public Documents" instead of the documents of the user earlier. So all you got to do is, go to the Users folder in the drive in which you installed the Windows. Now open the folder of the "Username". "Username" is the name of your user that you created. In that, open Documents. You would see a folder named "GTA San Andreas User Files". For simplicity, since most users install Windows in C: Drive, the link to this folder is like this - "C:\Users\your username\Documents\GTA San Andreas User Files". now copy this folder into the Documents in Public. For example, if you Windows is in Drive C:, copy the folder to "C:\Users\Public\Documents\". And then! hey! You are done! :) Now your new files will be saved in this Public Documents only. So if you wish to back them up later, you have to backup them from Public!

Problem solved, and superb results! I hope it helps all! :)

Scared of Ghosts?! And what of the person behind the mirror?! :O - Intellectual Thursday

Alright, I can say it this time too, I don't own this pic, found it from google.

Now, what I wanted to discuss at my desiccator today is that, are you really scared of ghosts? I mean, as a kid, I was really scared of ghosts, and dark, but no longer.

When I was a kid, I couldn't go in other room of my house during night, leave alone watching a horror movie, but now I can watch a horror movie, like Grudge, at 2 am, and go to sleep! - WITHOUT PROBLEM! :D As a kid, if I were scared of ghosts, it is normal, because we are not able to think that rationally and all, so its not that big an issue if I believed in the existence of ghosts (though I still believe, but no longer scared).

But when we are big enough to be indifferent to such things, why are we so casual about their existence? I know many of my friends, who still are very scared and can't watch a horror movie in the daylight, leave the night part! But tell me one thing, if ghosts are so scary, even when we have not seen them, what of the people? Yes, the human beings? Are we any less than those scary monsters which are there in the fairy tails, which could cause a small kid to wet its bed, just to teach 'em a lesson of goodwill?! o_O

Sadly, we aren't any better! :/ There is less than a handful of people who could call them "human beings", a class that regards to those animals who have made themselves worthy to be called better than other animals!

When I look at the newspaper these days, I feel so bad about about my city! Every other page has atleast one news that tells about somebody's murder, or kidnap, or rape! Is this we are really up to?! Our great politicians preach of a country where people have not yet forgotten their moral values, where people are still humans, just tell me one thing, are we really living in such a world they are telling us that we are a part of? Seems like they have considered us to be to too gullible to be able to observe and understand what's going on out here!

The spirit of festivals is lost. They are just holiday, nothing else than that! They are celebrated as fun-day, but not with the respect they must be! We have so many religions across the world. Every religion teaches the same lesson in one way or other, but "WHO CARES?!". In a false pride, we tend to give our religion supremacy over the others, as if the other religions are teaching things that are too different or too wrong! HUH!!

I was asking you all, that are you scared of ghosts? Some would say yes, some would say no. But I again ask, what of the person that is there on the other side of the mirror? What of the people around the world who are acting too foolish that the whole humanity would feel ashamed that they are also humans, alas!

Can we think of a world with all the good things if we continue to waste ourselves like this? I am not trying to agitate anyone, but tell me, are we right? Okay, I am not talking about everyone, some of us are doing good things, but of we talk in a normal manner, are the people around the world really acting "humanly"? Now tell me, who is more scary? A ghost who is never seen outside the stories? or a human being, who is slowly sucking the blood of the whole society, killing it slowly, for its own greed and lust for money and power?

Dev C++, new versions - FOUND!! :D - Super Sunday!

Hello dear readers!! ^_^ Hope all of you are doing great! :) Well I know I am just updating my blog on Sundays now, but believe me, really out of time these days, and moreover, phew - exams start tomorrow! :/ So even the Musical Monday post, I will be scheduling today only!

Anyways, I like the compiler Dev-C++ by Bloodshed for my C and C++ programming fun. But I have been seeing no new version since quite sometime now. I was really irritated by that fact. The last official stable release, Bloodshed Dev-C++ v4.9.9.2 was a beta one and then never saw any new addition on the site of my favourite compilers!

So, I went on searching over the Internet, and finally - "TADA!" I found it! :D And see what info I found :

"The project was no longer noticeably active, with no news posted nor any updated versions released from February 22, 2005 to June 2011. In a 2006 forum post, lead developer Colin Laplace stated that he was busy with real-life issues and did not have time to continue development of Dev-C++. However there is a development team that has taken the Dev-C++ IDE and added new features such as support for multiple compilers and a RAD designer for wxWidgets applications. This IDE can be found under the name wxDev-C++. On June 30th 2011 an unofficial version 4.9.9.3 of Dev-C++ was released by an independent programmer, featuring the more recent GCC4.5.2 compiler, Windows' SDK resources (Win32 and D3D), numerous bugfixes, and improved stability. On the 27th of August, after five years of officially being in a beta stage, version 5.0 was released by the developer from Orwell's blog. This version also has its own separate SourceForge page since version 5.0.0.5, because the old developer isn't responding to requests." I wish the lead developer's life gets settled down, and things go fine! :)

Though Code::Blocks is a good alternative, but fans like me, would not like to let Bloodshed go too early, right?! :D

So Litchi! yumm! One fruit that would make a mouth watering effect on me - LITCHI!! :D I just love that fruit. Maybe it's one of the reasons why I love summers! haha!

Recently I bought a Real Juice pack of Litchi Juice. On the pack, there was some nice info about Litchis. Then I thought lets read more about it on the Internet. So finally, let me produce in front of you all, the information that I have collected! :D This would be containing the article that was printed on the pack as is, okay?!

The luscious tropical fruit belonging to the soapberry family, Sapindaceae,(actually, it is the only fruit in that family belonging to genus Litchi) was first produced in South China. The fresh fruit has a "delicate, whitish pulp" with a "perfume" flavor that is lost in canning, so the fruit is mostly eaten fresh.

The lychee is cultivated in China, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, and northern India (in particular Bihar, which accounts for 75% of total Indian production.) South Africa and the United States (Hawaii and Florida) also have commercial lychee production. WOW! that sounds superb, isn't it?! :D That means they are available all over the world! You guys must try them...They are my favorites! :D

Litchis, not only eye-catching in spring when the huge sprays of flowers adorn the tree but also is a stunning sight for nature lovers when the tree is full of berries.

Now a few lines directly from your Wikipedia! :P - The lychee has a history of cultivation going back as far as 2000 BC according to records in China. Cultivation began in the area of southern China, Malaysia, and Vietnam. Wild trees still grow in parts of southern China and on Hainan Island. There are many stories of the fruit's use as a delicacy in the Chinese Imperial Court. It was first described and introduced to the west in 1782.

The fruit has a very short harvesting duration of about 2 weeks only! In fact different regions have different harvesting months.

Lychee fruits are low in calories, contains no saturated fats or cholesterol, but rich in dietary fiber which, can be very important for individuals who are concerned about their excess body weight.

It is a very good source of B-complex vitamins such as thiamin, niacin and folates. These vitamins are essential since they function by acting as co-factors to help body metabolize carbohydrates, protein and fats.
Litchi also contains a very good amount of minerals like potassium and copper. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids help control heart rate and blood pressure; thus offers protection against stroke and coronary heart diseases. Copper is required in the production of red blood cells.

Fresh lychee arils or flesh should be enjoyed all alone without any additions.
Litchi slices can be a great addition to fruit salads and dressings.

I know I am not being too dedicated to posting things on here like I was in the beginning, but frankly speaking, that's only what is appearing to you all! I know I was about to reach my 100th post, but then I slowed down drastically! :/ Well been really busy. Stylish, intuitive interface - Well the looks of new Ubuntu 11.10 with the wallpapers that are packed with it and the themes are just certainly mind blowing!! *Applause*
The launcher - Get easy access to your favourite tools and applications with this new launcher analogous to your Start Menu's Favorite Items(That you pin to your menu in Windows), but still superbly awesome and better than that! You can hide and reveal it, add and remove apps and keep track of your open windows.
Security - Now one feature that does open up your eyes wide! er, like this --> O_O ?? LOL! :D Well yes security! Just like your new Windows come with those Windows Antivirus, and Firewall, Ubuntu too comes with 'em, but hey!! it's Linux! And thus, certainly better than your Windows Antivirus(I AM TALKING ABOUT THE BUILT-IN ONE!!!)

Ubuntu Software Centre - Alright! Not new, but certianly new! LOL! Got my point?! no?! oh! Popular apps are starred to show how much they are rated on an average by the users! :)
Web Browsing - Ubuntu has everything you need to browse the web quickly and safely. Mozilla Firefox comes as standard and you can choose alternative browsers like Google Chrome from the Ubuntu Software Centre.
Office applications - Okay so here is the big change that comes now! NO MORE OPEN OFFICE! :O Oh! I loved Open Office! :( Ubuntu 11.10 comes with Libre Office installed instead, though it's just almost completely similar to Open Office! LibreOffice is easy to use, packed with the features you need, and it’s completely free.
Ubuntu is easy to use and FREE! - Yes! Switching from Windows to Ubuntu(if you ain't that much into games) is too easy! Since it has that GNOME as it's user-interface(UI), thus it's quite similar to your Windows Operating System. Just try it once! You'll love it! :)

Alright so you guys read some cool features of it?! now come on! Try it for once! Its worth it. I myself have been using Ubuntu since years now, that's why I am recommending it to you all!

Been really busy, phew! Really didn't know that after making such a great start with the blog, I'll suddenly become so busy that I could not give so much time here! Sorry! But on weekends atleast, I can come here to greet all of you, my dear readers, and visitors! ^_^

So today I bring to all of you, a free office suite, that I am a fan of! - Openoffice.org
Openoffice is a multiplatform and multilingual office suite and an open-source project developed by the Sun Microsystems, Oracle Corporation and now Apache Software Foundation.

Now don't think that its free, so its crap. NO!! A renowned rival to MS Office, OpenOffice.org includes powerful applications for making text documents, spreadsheets, presentations, diagrams, and databases, as well as HTML and XML documents. not only it has all those basic MS Office apps such as the word processor, but also it has a vector drawing software included in its package! Not only does it let you edit basic documents, such as letters and faxes, it also handles equations and complex and multipart documents with bibliographies, reference tables, and indexes. An advanced office user will find almost every option conveniently in Openoffice too, that he/she were used to use in MS Office. Though the names are a bit different. The overall interface is too similar too. The latest versions of OpenOffice have seen a spurt of growth in the extensions available for the program. These include templates for professional writers, an export tool for bidirectional functionality with Google Docs, blog publishing, and others.

It is a great Software, Easy to use, and most importantly - Its Free!! ^_^ So I would like to recommend it to all of you! Do try it! You'll love it! :)

Clouds will always be there! - Intellectual Thursday

Hello all! ^_^

I always have kept one thing in my mind, you can call it a success secret, or whatever you may like to. That one thing is :- "You cannot ask the clouds to stop covering the sun but you can always condition yourself to work in the dim light!"

That is one my self-made quotes. I have included them in my "mantra" of adjusting myself to different situations. As a kid, I have been very rigid and resistive. But as I grew, rigidity in my decisions wasn't lost, though resistance changed to flexibility! I saw that holding to my decisions and words was difficult if I cannot adjust and adapt to different situations, and thus a small situational change would render me helpless and lead to failure. And then failure sometimes start a chain reaction of regression, and anguish, all sort of negative energies, feelings, etc.

But this one quote that I have shared with you, is the key that opens the doors of success in such situations. Clouds would always cover the sun every now and then. You cannot ask them to stop doing that. Neither can you ask the clouds to stop forming. Just like that, situations would be good and bad, changing every now and then, and that process couldn't be stopped. You can imagine yourself to be Earth. In every 24 hours a place faces both sunlight and darkness, just like that, happiness and sadness will come and go. Now its upto us that we remain firm, or get overwhelmed with the situations, flowing with them, away, or fighting with them, to our way to success.

If we could condition ourselves to work in dim-light, i.e., if we could be courageous enough to fight any situation, then we won't be afraid of the work of the clouds, whether it is to cover the sun, or to cause a storm!

Reservation and Equality - Well, a bit too far apart - Intellectual Thursday

Hello All!

Had been wondering lately about the topic of reservation. Being one of the students of the "General" category, I too strongly oppose reservation. Though I have to admit, my knowledge about it, and about the affairs relating to it is quite too less, but still is enough to generate a sense of hatred for this system.

When we are talking of a world where we preach equality, according to me, reservation system stands no place in such a scenario. The reason many give to support this system is that, in earlier times people of minority communities have faced repression at the hands of the rich, and "Upper Class" people, or the Majority Community.

So years after the abolition of caste and class system our dear politicians revive this issue, generating a huge vote-bank for themselves, and at the same time, putting fuel to the fire, NO! in this case, fire to the fuel (because the things were much calmer before! huh!). But does this gives a reason to all the commonwealth countries declare a war against Britain? o_O Or does this gives a reason to the people pf South Africa to kill the whites dwelling there?

When we say that its been years to those things, and talking about them can open some un-healed wounds, or can provoke hatred, then why reservation? I remember, until I have not known much about reservation, almost everyone was similar to me. But since I have known of it, I myself have started to make a difference between reserved and unreserved people! I never knew that I was a classmate of some reserved community students. And never did I have seen them with hate. Are they really different? I don't think so. But this reservation system has given the students a reason to discriminate.

There have been efforts on large scale against this stupid norm, that is killing talent slowly, and of course is a major reason of Brain Drain, but I guess, since its my blog, atleast here I can say anything I want!

I know its Tech Tuesday, but still I am posting a game. Just recalled this game after a long time.

G-Brainy is an awesome brain-teaser game. It helps you sharpen your minds a little bit, just like other puzzles games. The place where it becomes better than others is that it has many different types of puzzles, involving all Maths, Logic, Language, and Memory!

Gbrainy is a basic program that contains a variety of different mental challenges, effectively helping you pass time and sharpen your mind. Though there are better softwares for that available, and thus its not one of its kind, but still its good enough to be tried! :)

Gbrainy's interface is plain, especially for a game; there is a handful of colored buttons across the top, but the rest of the interface is pretty drab. User can choose between four different types of tasks--logic, calculation, memory, and verbal--or mix all the types together. Some of the categories are harder than others; the verbal tasks consist largely of basic analogies without difficult vocabulary words, whereas the memory tasks were virtually impossible for us. Fortunately, the program's settings allow users to choose between three different levels of difficulty and adjust the length of time given for memorization tasks, customizations that were definitely welcome.

From one of my most trustworthy, and favourite forums, here I bring to you all, WinDirStat, a free and Open-Source System Management Software.

Unfortunately, it's much easier to fill up your hard drive than it is to clean it. With so many folders and directories, how do you pinpoint what's taking up space? "

Quite right, isn't it? We thought we have just 60 GB data, so that 250 GB would be more than enough. But when we had that, the things we wanted to keep stored in our PC kept on increasing! Now, out of the tonnes of files loaded on our PCs, it sometimes becomes a bit difficult to find out which ones to delete, now here is when these Software come to our help.

WinDirStat is one such, open source software for Windows.

Though I don't copy posts as you know, but I guess, in these Fromrum Topic, I would have to do it. Because, if I would explain things in my own language, then it could be sometimes taken in a different manner... So would directly copy the instructions of using the software:

Download and install WinDirStat. Go with the recommended installation.
Launch WinDirStat and select the drive you want to evaluate. Click "OK," and give the program 5 to 10 minutes to scan your hard disk.
When the scan is complete, you'll be presented with the summary screen. The top half lists files and folders sorted by file size. If you click on a folder or file, the corresponding color block will be highlighted below.
Alternatively, click the large blocks of color to find out which files are taking the most space.
Once you've identified the culprit, right-click the file and choose "Delete (to Recycle Bin)" for later disposal, or "Delete (no way to undelete)" for permanent, irreversible deletion.

The Mirror - Intellectual Thursday!

Just continuing with the regime that was decided! haha! its Thursday, and lets talk about something intellectual/philosophical/interesting and logical!

Today, I would like to talk about a Mirror. A mirror as we know is a glass that is polished from one side so that the other side can be used to see one's reflection. A mirror is quite similar, even when we think of a mirror philosophically!

A mirror reflects one's looks, if we see from the perspective of an outsider. But if we think, we would see that a mirror reflects everything in front of it, unbiased! Hence a mirror seems to teach us a lesson on being unbiased and to support the truth!

A mirror is something which is used by almost everyone. One would definitely find a mirror in the handbag of most women. A mirror seems to be highly associated with women. Every woman would spend a lot of time in front of a mirror, grooming herself. But we cannot say that men aren't to do anything with mirror. As I said, it is used by everyone, even when a man sees a mirror, he would get conscious suddenly, and would style his hair, groom his shirt/collar, etc.

Thus we see a mirror can be seen in both perspectives, actual, and philosophical. A mirror would reflect what is in its front, teaching us to be unbiased. A mirror would not lie thinking that in front of it is its owner, or somebody else. A mirror would help decorate things. A mirror is something that grooms our rooms.

Using Power Button to Turn off PC? - Tech Tuesday!

I am trying to stick my Organising Rules! LOL! So its Tuesday ,and that means - Tech Tuesday! :D
So what's the topic for today! OMG! I must look above now! LOL!

Yes! So we were talking about the Power Button on your so called CPU. Yes! But first of all lets clear our one thing, technically speaking, the CPU(or Central Processing Unit, quite a long name, isn't it?! Booring! *yawn*, er, leave it) is the Processor inside that big Cabinet which we people generally end up calling CPU. The processor is CPU?! Yes, it is! You mean that whole big box with sooo many small-small strange looking things are not collectively called CPU?! Well, yes, that's what I mean! In our general day-to-day life, we have been adapted to call it CPU and not Cabinet. I know that doesn't makes any point or sense over here as it seems off topic, but I was just sharpening your GTK! (GTK?! wtf! is that! :O GTK is General Technical Knowledge! haha! Think the Toxifer way! ;) ) But here I won't be calling it Cabinet, I will keep it CPU only. So we were talking about the Power Button on our CPUs.

The myth says, "Computer can be damaged by its use for shutting it down". And the fact says, "The myth can be true only if you are talking of very old computers which didn't had that Soft Power Button".

The soft power button that we now-a-days have, aren't just switches, they are electronic items as a whole which got capabilities of 2 functions, one traditional HARD SHUTDOWN or Power OFF, and the second, a proper user-control system. The user-control system means that, it is upto us which shortcut we want to assign to that button on our Computer Systems. You can change those settings in your Control Panel of Windows. (Don't worry, Linux and Mac too have that feature! :P).

The traditional power buttons had a drawback, which was, they were simple SWITCH! That means, a turn on or a turn off could cause a momentarily-lived, electrical surge that could corrupt some data, or damage your sensitive semiconductors. But the new power buttons rule off that. How?! Well! TECHNOLOGY IS ADVANCED NOW! Come on friends! :P So don't worry that you have pressed that Soft-power button and your computer was shut down would have damaged your data. No! I have tried and tested, and read several articles on Internet before writing this article over here! So chill! Your PC ain't at risk, and that power button has got a huge life-span so you don't have to worry of it getting worn-out!

Now if we press that soft-button for a few seconds, it renders a hard shutdown, same as what our traditional power off button did! But still electric or current surge ain't anything to worry much(accidents can happen of course, but probability is getting lesser everyday!).
So you guys can easily use that power button as shortcuts to ShutDown, or standby, or hibernate, whatever feature you want to activate via Control Panel(ShutDown, by default!) and be cool, nothing will happen!
But yes! if you still have that traditional Cabinet, then it might be damaging, in that case, don't do it.

Its an endless well!

I had been wondering where is our world heading to these days? I have always been a keen listener and speaker when we are talking about the current scenario of the world. I mean the scenario in every sense. Be it sports, politics, or general life of a common man. How many hardships one has to suffer for the idiotism of others, and sometimes, how some people act so strangely strange that it doesn't makes sense what they are doing or speaking!

In general life when we notice the things happening around us, we are pissed off of nearly everything, but if we observe and think about what is happening, we would realise the things are quite much different than they seem to be. In all, neither we understand the actions of others, nor to others understand the actions of ours. You may say, its like a chain or some kind of an action-reaction or give-'n'-take pair.

When we see what's happening around us, we tend to accuse most of the things and it all seems like an endless well in which our future is falling. but why are we letting are future to go into stark darkness for the foolishness of others? Some say, we should do something, and they never stand up, others would stand up and turn so aggressive and violent, that their efforts go futile, else others would be highly indifferent to whatever is going on around.

Does it makes sense to fight for everything? No! but neither it makes sense to silently keep seeing what's going on.

Let's talk about the sports. If you people would have noticed the current tour, Cricket I am talking of, that India went to England, one would have surely been amazed to see, a complete white-wash that the great cricket team suffered. They say, they didn't had god bowlers, and the ones they had, were injured. The batsmen too were injured. Okay! if that's the case, one should not be expecting to see 'em in the upcoming T-20 series! but they all will be there! Reason - Money! A lot of money they get to perform good in these leagues, such as the IPL, ICL, and CLT-20. But what goo they fetch by giving a poor performance for their own nation? And what a common man does instead of just accusing them? Can't we really do anything? o_O

Sometimes I wonder all this, and then it seems all to be futile to think....The current scenario of the world seems to full of crap and what we can see around us happening seems to be crap too. And then, all I can do is just keep wondering and the be quiet...Seems this is an endless well, which is full of thoughts and emotions, but who cares! :/ The labyrinth of thoughts....an endless well...

Assault Druid - Free Game Download!

Sounds quite strange with respect to 29 posts in 5 days of July! LOL! or 33 posts in 31 days of August! Ah well! I get busier everyday! And July were my holidays! I cannot post everyday! huh! >_< Oops! Seems I am getting a bit tooo off topic now! LOL! Alright, now lets get back, so what was the topic(GEESH! I would have to look back up, just a second! :/ )

Assault Druid is here for you! Graphics like Diablo 2 :P But the game is nice. For all the rampage fans, who are no longer able to play much of the games all because they are getting too busy, Assault Druid is the best game that would satisfy their appetite! Of course, it ain't that great a game, but hey! Cool Enough to be tried! :) The gameplay is good, and the game overall, is ummm..between average and good...you may say, okie-dokie sort of, but worth trying! :D

I recommend it to you all and say, hey friends! give it a try! The game is nice enough to be tried, once atleast! :)

Password Strength!

Been busy with exams, and just two more to go before I be back here again! LOL! By the way, I saw, lately, there have been some downloading posts continuously on my blog, I guess, its time to change that regime, else people would start taking my blog as not a place for cool things but just another downloading engine! LOL! So! Today, I thought to take a break from studies, and come back to my blog and make a post! :D

So the topic we gonna discuss today is - Password Strength! Hell yes! That's the thing many of us have trouble with while making our e-mail IDs or registering in some forums and all, when they say - Your password is weak, and then it irritates us sending impulses of fear throughout our nerves telling us - WE GOTTA THINK OF A NEW ONE! ELSE WE ARE AT RISK #GULP!#

So what's next?! Of course I am gonna tell you guys about password strength and some tips to make a strong password. Actually it struck in my mind to share this with you all, when in my recent newsletters I found, CNET's topic on Password Strengths.

So the thing is that, a few apprentice hackers try the algorithms and recursive functions to generate millions and trillions of passwords and check them on some e-mail IDs or similar things, accounts, etc. The more are the characters in your password, more are the number of combinations possible, and hence longer time to find the correct password, and hence lesser probability of being hacked! But a small password can also do fine, if your password is a unique combination of characters like, the special symbols(@#$%^&*()<>?,./;':"[]{}|\~`), alphabets(both capital and small), and numbers too. There are tools that help you generate such passwords, but remembering them is a total havoc for your minds. So what comes out as the call of the hour is that, make your own strong passwords by using all of the above as a combination. You cannot guarantee the security, but yes, more the number of characters, and more the versatility in the types of characters used, more difficult and lesser probability is of the fact that somebody might break through!

Now, thanks to CNET, I have found some tools for you all to check the strengths of your passwords, or generate strong ones, etc. DO CHECK 'EM ALL!(don't worry, they are safe! :) ) :-

Microsoft's Password Checker - Some people would now giggle and say really?! But I pity your bad knowledge, and I'd say - YES! :P Microsoft's Password Checker is a strong, free and easy-to-use INTERNET based tool and is really cool. The only problem is that, it would tell all your passwords below the length of 14 characters to be weak or, in the best cases, the password to be medium(LOL!!!)

Should I change my password - This is a website that crawls on many sites to see if your account and its information has been compromised and made public(if not made public, you people won't be able to find this handy). Since many hackers make the accounts public, this tool lets you know about it. You just have to enter in your e-mail address, and then wait for the website to check and let you know if that's the case. And in case, that has happened, immediately change your password! And as I said earlier, in case the details ain't made public, this tool won't be of help, but it's not futile to check after-all! :)

So in case your memory is awesome and you are not able to generate a password on your own, try it out so that it lets you know a strong password, but be cautious! - As i said, its for those who have a sharp memory! Avast Antivirus v6 - Free - 3.5* out of 5*

Would be busy with exams next week, so won't be posting much on here till that. But before, I thought to share a security software, yes - An Antivirus Software. I know there are many antivirus software available in the market, but we all know, how many of us use ORIGINAL. The problem is not that we don't want to spend a penny on our security, the problem is that the antivirus software sometimes seem to be asking more than their worth! :/ What solution then most of us resort to then? PIRACY! But instead of that why not go on for some free antivirus? For a corporate or business user, I would say, they got to buy an original Antivirus, but what of a general home-user? It would seem to be waste! My personal suggestion for such users is to go for a free antivirus software like Avast or AVG. I will post about AVG soon too :) But for now, Avast!

Avast! is there in the world of free antivirus software since a long time now. In these years, it has done much to be a name known to many people around the world. What makes it so special? Well both features combined with light-weight! It doesn't use up much of our computer resources, and still provide us with a mediocre security against viruses to a everyday, general Home-User(Mind it! I am not talking of any professional, just a general Home-User!)

I am not recommending this Antivirus Software for no reason, I have got strong reasons for that. I won't go much into details for now.

Ubuntu 10.10 - Seems Those Days are Gone! :/

Many of us by now know what Ubuntu is. It has done much enough to prove its worth as worthy contender and a free alternative in the market of Operating Systems. Being much like Windows in usage, it offers the users to easily switch to it and thus people find it quite a reliable Linux Operating System. Though there are better Linux available, but for a general Desktop User(not a professional), an environment and user interface that is much alike windows is preferable. But this time, Ubuntu seems to be losing its spot at the top of the Linux Distribution heap. The easy-to-use distro has been a a great hit and actually a favourite among the casual users and Linux advocates, alike. Recently though, long-time fans have been deeply divided due to the switch to Unity, a new visual interface that breaks away from several common conventions and in fact trades Linux's trademark flexibility for flashy graphics, which many in-fact find Distracting!

The users who like Ubuntu because they wanted to try something new, and experiment with Linux, are now finding that other Operating Systems like Mint and Fedora are better, all because of the new graphical environment - Unity! And the story doesn't ends here, Ubuntu hints that Ubuntu 11.04 still has the capability to revert back to GNOME(The environment we were using as yet, which was much like Windows), but its next release 11.10, won't be having that option! So you may know, how badly certain fans are hurt(Including me! Even I like GNOME more than Unity, I have used all Ubuntu versions since the Ubuntu 6.xx)

Which Loops to be used when?!

Today I thought to share an important information I came across one day while I was studying. I just recalled it and thought it might be good thing to share with all my friends and readers! - When to use which loop in C or C++. it is no hard-and-fast rule, but it is a general way. Though it would be better if you use them in a way, that they are easy to understand to you and others too! :)

The for loop is appropriate when you know in advance how many times the loop will be executed. The while and do loops are used when you don’t know in advance when the loop will terminate; the while loop when you may not want to execute the loop body even once, and the do loop when you’re sure you want to execute the loop body at least once. These criteria are somewhat arbitrary. Which loop type to use is more a matter of style than of hard-and-fast rules. You can actually make any of the loop types work in almost any situation. You should choose the type that makes your program the clearest and easiest to follow.

And ya! I just figured out making a tutorial for C/C++ ain't my cup of tea. I can make programs, maybe good programs, I maybe able to explain how things work and how to proceed to someone mano-a-mano, but writing it here is not kinda possible...So instead I would share some of my programs every now and then, but sorry, I cannot give small lessons, which I thought last Wednesday to do for you all every week. Hope you all understand.

In my recent newsletter receivings, I have found a fun-filled small game! :D It is a small, light, Racing Game and is just superb! it is really cool and is quite a pastime. The graphics of course aren't that cool, but we can leave them coz. the size and requirements are just close to none! LOL! I thought you all would like to play that game, its just 17.35 MB download!

Nokia X2-01 : Problem with Security Keyguard

In the recent times, I have seen people having problems with the security keyguard feature of The Nokia X2-01. Security Keyguard, is one such feature that brings an unusual glow in some people's eyes! LOL! Not just specifically locking things, but locking the whole phone with the password! Wow! It indeed is a good idea to prevent misuse of your phone, for whatever purpose. But I have seen people having problems with this feature in Nokia X2-01. One may thank the cramped QWERTY keypad of the phone(which actually doesn't seems to be cramped, but once you use it, HUH! You know it! :P ). In case one inputs a wrong unlock code in Nokia X2-01 phone(well, in any Nokia Phone with Security enabled! :/), more than a certain times(I guess 4 or 5 it is, not too sure though! :/) then your mobile phone will get hard locked and every so often become unusable. now what comes to the rescue?! ₹200/- straight to a service centre or letting the Internet do it for you free?! :O My bro got this problem a day ago(And here is another one added on the list of the victims! LOL!). So we were searching the Internet for a way to get rid of this problem without going to the Service Centre(and also to save those ₹200/- LOL!) And EUREKA! We found a method(THAT WORKED!). This method allows one to unlock his/her Nokia X2-01 but only allows the owner to do so! Why?! Simple! because you need to know the code that you made your security code! Who else than you knows it? Oh! or there are people who know it?! :O Anyways, the method is simple and easy, I found it in one of the forums. If I remembered the name, I would have loved to share the name, but alas! Anyways, here is how to do it! :-

Switch on Nokia X2-01 with no sim card.
Don't worry as to what is shows on your Nokia X2-01.
Type #pw+CODE+1#.
The Nokia X2-01 would then show the message "SIM Restriction Off" and will be unlocked!

The letter p displays if you hit the button star (*) 3 times quickly
The letter w displays if you hit the button star (*) 4 times quickly
The symbol + displays if you hit the button star (*) 2 times quickly
The CODE you have to enter is the unique unlock code for your Nokia X2-01

The method as you see is simple, but you need to know the code that you entered as your security code. So you see this method is not for helping anyone to unlock somebody else's phone! :P

Dear respected readers! I hope you all are doing great! Being a member of the CNET community, I recently got an amazing e-mail newsletter from them about "How to check if a Web site is safe". I have linked that article if you would like to read that article directly! :)

It is a good article and has given really good ideas about checking if the website safe or not. But as you all know, I donot copy the content, so I would rather write my own views, though that article gave me ideas and some examples of tools, so how could I forget to show Courtesy to the CNET Team?! :)

What the tools actually check are checking them for Phishing scams. Actually, they work in the manner that, they check if the site the user(that is YOU!) have entered in their search bar/check bar, has been reported for any phishing scam or not. So you may not guarantee their ability to tell you whether you are safe or not. But still, there are some 6-7 tools, and if you check all of them, you get quite some idea. These days, when there is so much of phishing going on stealing people's information, I guess,such tools(which are for FREE!) really prove to be handy. Well some nice weapons in you inventory/armoury are always great when you don't know the power of your enemy(The Phisher could be more dangerous, depending on his skills!). And atleast with some confidence you can open the link. These days we can't even trust the link sent to us from our bestest friend, the reason being, even that message may be a result of phishing scam they might have had been a victim of! :O

Oh by the way! There so much of hue and cry about this word PHISHING, but still not many of us know its real meaning. Though I have talked about them in my previous post that I made yesterday, so you people can refer to it for details about what is Phishing!

So now comes the tools:-

1. Web of Trust - It is an Add-On for both Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. but I don't think it is much reliable, Most of the sites got no rating, I mean the sites you would actually want to know are they safe or not! Moreover, the ratings are based on the average ratings given by the other users of WOT around the world. And who knows, if more than 50% of the reviewers are themselves involved in preying the people! Still, installing it has no harm. Well, to have something is better than nothing, right?! its simple to use,. Install its addon, and it would automatically tell you the ratings of the site as you open it. You can also convert it into a Parental Control, if you may like! ;)

2. Google Safe Browsing - Another handy tool, free to use, and web-based. The only thing is that, it checks if the link has been reported for Phishing in past 90 days. SO you can think if you are a victim in the period of not reporting, then?! :O But still, as I said earlier, to have something is better than nothing! ;) All you have to do to use it is, type in the address bar the following link, and type in the address/URL of the website you want to check after the "=" sign, press enter/go, and you are done! :)

3. hpHosts - This is yet another free and easy to use tool to check the safety of the website, simialr to Google Safe Browsing tool, the difference being here you got a text-box where you can type in your QUERRY link! HpHosts gives you more-detailed information than Google Safe Browsing, if you're into that kind of thing. Though I don't recommend it, as all the URLs I typed, it said, "Currently not listed" LOL! Still if you want to give it a try, go on to the following link. Yes! One mroe thing, the more place you check before going on a particular site, the better it is. Well, atleast better to "waste" time (as some may think) than to be a victim of Phishing!

Norton Safe Web - To those who know me personally would rather be shocked to see I am recommending a Symantec product, even though I have developed a strange hatered for that company due to some past experiences! :/ Anyways, there is yet another irony to the situation, IT IS TRUSTWORTHY! You can download a free and effective parental control too. I mean the Parental Control is Trustworthy, though I don't know much about the site as yet! LOL! All because, earlier there was a similar initiative by McAfee(Though I don't know it still exists or not!) and it was highly unreliable! Still for Symantec Fans, and adding yet another weapon in your armoury against Phishing, following is the link!

I hope you all are doing great! So Today I would like to discuss about - Phishing! :O Another much heard word, and a word that sometimes scares some people the main reason being, experience, of themselves or others! Something, that scares you from using the Internet! Something that scares you of shopping online! Phew! I guess, I used much adjectives and phrases to signify the terror of phishing(LOL!). But seriously, it is becoming a BIG Problem these days when the use of Internet is at its Peak! Phishing is something, we all have heard of, but most of us only have slight fleetingly sort of idea about its actual definition. So its time to make everyone know(well atleast on my part I am doing it for you all my readers!) what this PHISHING is!

In the words of Your Wikipedia(:P) "Phishing is a way of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication." Simple to understand, isn't it?! The interesting part is, Why is it called Phishing! (huh! Sounds like Fishing spelled wrong! Don't laugh as yet, its true! :O) Yes! Phishing comes from the actual word Fishing only. During fishing, the fisherman outs a bait like a worm or something like that(which may attract the fish) and the fish gets attracted to it, tends to eat it, and then! WHOA! The fish is caught, ending up being a VICTIM! Similar thing happens with a victim of Electronic Phishing. A user gets attracted to the bait, that is a camouflaged link to something UNSAFE in the form of a friendly link or something funny, or anything that might catch the eye of the reader! And then the user ends up clicking it, and enters the realm of the "Phisher" and what happens next? Well, we know it already! :/

The big problem is that a Phishing link is generally camouflaged in such a perfect thing that it would cent-percent catch the reader's interest! Some popular Phishing scams include, "YOU HAVE WON 50000000000000000 POUNDS!" (LOL!LOL!LOL!), "HEAVY DISCOUNT", "REPLICA WATCHES", "#%$^&*)*(&*^"(You can understand, not worth sharing online, :p), "See this Funny Video", etc. etc.!!

I thought to add a new topic to my blog - programming! Being a student of Computer Engineering, I love programming. So I thought why not share the wealth of programming? During my studies, I have seen so many classmates, having problems making simple programs. So I thought, I will share one program every week, in both C and C++ languages and if you have any queries related to them, please feel free to comment and ask! :)

Logic v/s Programming, A realisation

Hello all! ^_^

As a computer engineering student there is almost every instance in life on which my mind says to me, can we create a program for this? The answer of this for a beginner would be, Maybe! Lets develop logic, and then its all done! But since now I am no longer in that beginner mode and I have started to get hold on the programming, I have realized, making logic is not everything. A logic is of course a primary requirement, but just the logic doesn't solves the problem. Transforming your logic into a computer program is altogether a new challenge. When one starts with programming, he/she gets simple programs in their way, like simple mathematical operations. But as we progress, we see that the complexity increases beyond thinking! So then, logic(certainly remains an important criterion) is not everything! Then a programmers' real skills are tested. Now what are these real skills? - How to transform this logic into a program or into a computer-understandable format. As I am progressing on my path to be a programmer, I have seen that this challenge is much bigger than the former. So this is just a realization for me, I don't know how many of you would agree with me. But certainly, it does gives my brain a superb exercise and I am just loving this so called - COMPUTER PROGRAMMING!

Home-made 3d Glasses?!

Being busy with college, I wasn't able to post much this week. So today I would like to share a superb thing I have came across on the Internet - How to make your own 3D-Glasses! Wow! :D

But first lets throw some light on how things appear to be 3D on our 2D screens! o_O

Anaglyph images, are the images that are used to provide a stereoscopic 3D effect, when viewed with glasses where the two lenses are different (usually chromatically opposite) colors, such as red and cyan or red and green. Actually, these Anaglyph images are made of two layers of colors that are superimposed in a manner that they can produce a depth effect. What they do is, the main object or you can say our subject, is in the center of the image, and the foreground and background are shifted in opposite directions, laterally. The picture contains two differently filtered colored images, one for each eye. When viewed through the "color coded" "anaglyph glasses", they reveal an integrated stereoscopic image. The visual cortex of the brain fuses this into perception of a three dimensional scene or composition. So what does the last line mean? Simple! - its not only the image that's working, more importantly its your brain that perceives it correctly! So don't think 3D viewing to be a miracle of just the one who created it, but consider it to be 75%his work, and 25% your own work. haha!

So now lets talk about how to make your own 3D glasses or you can call them, er, Anaglyph Glasses! :)

So you would need the following:-

A cardboard (10"x10")
2 cellophane sheets(3"x3"), you may also use any transparent thin plastic lamina too.
A blue/cyan and a red, alcohol-based ink marker
Instead of Cellophane and markers, you may use Sheets of red and blue acetate (available at your local craft store)as alternative!

Now how to do it. Well its just too simple! Make a simple cardboard spectacle frame for yourself, as per your requirement, your face-build, distance between eyes, etc. make sure that it resembles a normal spectacle frame, without glasses and instead having space for them. Now instead of glasses you may do one of the following:

Use the cellophane sheet(or a thin, transparent, plastic lamina) and color it using your markers. On one piece, color both sides red, and on the other piece, color both sides blue/cyan/green.

Sheets of red and blue acetate.

Any of the alternatives you use, they would be your lenses/glasses for the spectacle frame you just made. So the size must be in accordance, preferably, slightly bigger so you may get them hold on the frame easily! Now all you got to do is just insert these new lenses/glasses of yours in the spectacle frame you made earlier, and you have your own, Home-made 3-D glasses/Anaglyph glasses!

Remark - The glasses that would be made using this, their quality depends on the quality of material used. Moreover, they are just temporary low-level glasses, don't think they can easily replace the actual anaglyph glasses. These may come to rescue when you don't any anaglyph glasses, but have something 3-D to view, like a magazine!

I know this word, Overclocking, since more than 2 years now, so I never thought that people just know the word and not its meaning as yet!! So today I would like to give a brief introduction of Overclocking to the readers of my blog, sorry if I go wrong somewhere.

"Overclocking is the process of running a computer component at a higher clock rate (more clock cycles per second) than it was designed for or was specified by the manufacturer, usually practised by enthusiasts seeking an increase in the performance of their computers." Now that's what wikipedia says. Let me explain it a little bit. Well, the speed of a computer system, the processor in particular(may it be the main processor or graphical processor), is measured as clock rate. Clock rate or clock cycles per second, simply means number of cycles of processes that may go on through the processor in one second! So you can imagine a 2.9 GHz processor is having 290,000,000,000 cycles going on through it per second!!! But we now there is no end to our desires! LOL! And we want more and more speed through our CPU as much as we derive! So what is the thing one resorts to in such a case???? - Of course! Over-Clocking!

The most commonly used process for overclocking one's CPU is Cooling it a bit more! So what is then most commonly used thing for that? - Yes! The Cooling Paste! I remember I read it once that even liquid Nitrogen is used by some people to cool their CPU! WOW! O_O Actually the problem is that, an overclocked CPU tends to generate more heat which might go beyond the tolerable levels of the motherboard and all! That's why one resorts to cooling pastes to cool an overclocked CPU. There are two reasons for that - 1. It is cheap! And 2. It is simple! :)

Going a bit technical, Overclockability arises in part due to the economics of the manufacturing processes of CPUs and other components. In most cases components with different rated clock rates are manufactured by the same process, and tested after manufacture to determine their actual ratings. The clock rate that the component is rated for is at or below the clock rate at which the CPU has passed the manufacturer's functionality tests when operating in worst-case conditions.

The main disadvantage of the overcolcking is that, it significantly reduces the life of the componenents, like your processor! And the main advantage is that, when your computer is too old and you want to get the most out of it, you may try overclocking to move with the world!

I am not discussing how to overclock a computer system though. I just wanted to make everyone a bit aware! Though I may consider discussing the process in future!

Chip v/s Digit - The Final Verdict

So finally after writing a review of both the top tech-magazines of India, CHIP and DIGIT, separately, I would like to give the final verdict from my side which one is better and why. Let us compare everything one by one.

1. PRICE - The cost is same, ₹150/-. The CHIP package includes A main Chip Magazine, A Supplement - Insider, and a Dual Layer, 8.5 GB, DVD. The DIGIT package comes with a DVD, a main Digit Magazine, a supplement of SKOAR!(Gaming oriented!) and a handy, small, awesomely amazing - FastTrack!

2. Main Issue -

Software - Talking about what they write about software, I would say, Chip got no match! Just tremendously fabulous reviews they write! That gives 'em an edge over Digit in Software Part!
Hardware - Digit wins over here! Chip got awesome people to write articles for 'em but when it comes to writing about hardware, I would say, Digit got an edge!
Other gadgets and Accessories - Chip is a complete tech-pack! It touches almost every new thing going on in the tech-bazaar. Though Digit is more computer oriented.

3. Quality of paper/ink - CHIP! CHIP! CHIP!! Chip is far better in that regard!!

4. Supplements - The Insider by Chip is far more better than SKOAR! by Digit if Insider talks about games. Else also, Insider is better than SKOAR!. SKOAR! is always about gaming , while Insider touches the hottest thing in the market, like, August one talks about games, but the July one talked about Android! Apart from that, Digit gets an edge with its FastTrack since they r small, easy to understand, complete basics guide with something or the other cool and popular going on these days. For example, in August Issue, there were 2 FastTracks - 1 talked about Facebook and Google+ basics, while the other was talking about iOS' basics!!

So if I had to choose, I would choose both! LOL! But if it has to be one, I'll go with Chip because I am more software oriented. Though for a person wanting a better hardware part, then Digit is sure to win! Choice is yours! Choose wisely according to your requirements! Good Luck!! ^_^

Chip is far better, damn amazing man!

So finally got my hands over The Chip Magazine! :D

And I would say, man! I am just amazed! It is far much better than Digit! Yes! Chip Magazine is an awesome tech-magazine, which is a must read for staying in touch with cool things going around in the tech-bazaar!

The best part about Chip, that I loved, is that the things are written in a professional manner and yet are written from a user's point of view! When I read chip, I felt like some user has written the articles with just soo much passion for technology and Computers, and the user himself has just too much knowledge about it all that he has given his best in writing ever article!

Now, ₹150/- package of Chip Magazine includes a main Magazine, The Chip, a supplementary one, Insider, and A Dual Layer 8.5 GB DVD containing tonnes of freewares! :)

Now lets talk about the main, The CHIP - It is an amazing magazine. The print quality and the pages are of good quality. The content is just tremendous. The magazine talks about almost all the technology one would love to read about, that has just entered the market. Moreover, the magazine talks about it all so awesomely! that you just can't give up reading once you started! I read the whole August issue in just 2 hours! :D The Dr. Chip section is amazing, and so is the Market Watch one!

Inseider - The supplementary magazine focussing on anything hot these days! Like the July issue talked about Android, this August's issue talked about games about to hit the market real soon!! The reviews of the games were written passionately and almost every aspect was touched and talked about. it was awesome! ^_^

The last thing, The DVD - Not much amazed, though this issue had 14 full games too. The content is cool, and yes, the thing that I loved the most was - Fedora 15 Live CD in the Disk! :D i am Linux Fan, so that's one thing that was really amazing for me to see!!! Apart from that, the content is cool, but you can find it all on the Internet for free(and legal too!! LOL!) its just that you can say, your time searching and downloading it is saved!! haha!

As you all know a few days ago I was talking about digit magazine and chip magazine. So finally, I bought a Digit magazine(Chip was unavailable, but will soon buy it too!!). So this is what I would like to say about it. The magazine is cool. I am looking forward to subscribe it. Though until I don't get hold on this month's chip, I won't say that too surely!

Through my searches on the Internet, I have found out that, if we compare the two magazines, CHIP is a better magazine, but the CD/DVD Contents of DIGIT are better. Though I am yet to say that in a confirmed way!

Through my own experience of buying the magazine, Digit is a superb magazine, and the most part of the appreciation, goes to its Fast-Tracks, the small, handy, supplements with every DIGIT magazine, that have got just superb information. For example, this month's issue of Fast-track, was a Fast-Track to Facebook and Google+. Anyone who till date doesn't has much idea about the two sites, can be a superb pro-user by reading the FastTrack just once! It guides so superbly through all basics! Though I knew all of it, but still, for a beginner, it would be a great handy-tool. I would like to read more fast-tracks as they seem to be a beginner information store-house to me.

Talking about the DVD, I am not that satisfied, apart from the Video Tutorials! Just superb addition to a DVD! Rest all content is easily available free of cost on the Internet. Though Tutorials too are available, but finding a good one is a hectic task, that Digit has completed for us!

And now If we talk about the main Magazine, it is cool. The hardware reviews are just super amazing. The editor's picks for storage devices are good too. Though I am not satisfied with the printing and paper quality much, but I guess in ₹150/- they are giving enough to cover-up that slight complaint.

Another supplement was there with this month's issue, it was a SKOAR!..Another great addition to that ₹150 Package! it features just super-duper cool game news and reviews and they are so well written, that I could feel the passion of the writer for the games! Really a big applause for the "SKOAR!".

So I would give a score of 3.8 out 5 to the whole DIGIT magazine pack of ₹150/-...I would also agree it is a value for money magazine, and I feel that I am fully satisfied with my purchase and my spending!...To DVD Content, I would give a B-...To the FastTrack, I would give an A+, to the SKOAR! I would give an A-, and to the Magazine, I would give a B+.....

The scores and ratings may change once I get hold on CHIP. Would soon write about it too. And then, would give a detailed comparative analysis of both the superb tech-mags, in India!

All of my friends know how crazy I am about PC games! LOL! And this one is one of my new found love! hahahaha!! Angry Birds! Whoa! Just a superb game it is.

Angry Birds is a puzzle video game developed by Finland-based Rovio Mobile. Inspired primarily by a sketch of stylized wingless birds, the game was first released for Apple's iOS in December 2009.

Rovio Mobile Ltd. or Rovio is a Finnish computer game developer founded in 2003 as Relude, and in 2005 renamed as Rovio, based in Espoo. And you all would be amazed to know, the company is best known for Angry Birds! haha!! Isn't that enough to make you people know how superb the game is.

I think I don't have to say much about the game Angry Birds, because in so less time, it has become one of the best and most famous of the Android based apps! Angry Birds has been praised for its successful combination of addictive gameplay, comical style, and low price. Its popularity led to versions of Angry Birds being created for personal computers and gaming consoles, a market for merchandise featuring its characters and even long-term plans for a feature film or television series. With a combined 300 million downloads across all platforms and including both regular and special editions, the game has been called "one of the most mainstream games out right now", "one of the great runaway hits of 2010", and "the largest mobile app success the world has seen so far".

Rovio Mobile has made a number of other games for mobiles, like Bounce Evolution, Bounce Tales, Collapse Chaos, Burnout, Cyber Blood, Darkest Fear, and Wolfmoon. But as I said earlier, there is no match for the popularity of the Angry Birds! When I got it for the PC, I was just damn amazed! I hope all the readers are doing great!

So, I have been using the Internet for quite a long time now, and the amount of websites that have flourished in just few years is just TOO BIG a number! When I started to use Internet, I felt it to be a super source of information. Information, about anything, and everything, and that too - Almost free! So Internet seemed to be quite a cool place to hang out when bored, reading about things I don't know, and all. But since recent times, as I am saying, there has been a flourishment of websites over here, I see Internet getting irritating and hectic source of information. Earlier, there were real opinions of real people. But now, there are made opinions of fake people, bots, copied-info, and all! More than 50% websites have copied-content! Isn't it just too idiotic? I know, sometimes, we do find good articles, that we like to share. But what if 90% of the site's data is copied content? Doesn't it becomes irritating and futile to visit such a website? And then, getting a good Page Rank and your name on the top pages of Google, by unfair means, is nothing new! I give you a very recent example from my own side. I am a student of Computers. So I want to remain in touch with latest things happening in the tech-market, and the tech-realm! So, the big means include, newsletters, magazines and connecting with technosavy people! I wanted to subscribe a good tech magazine. But I was so confused between the best ones available in India. So where should I look for a review, when no one in my friend circle is a subscriber? Tada!! - Internet! But what do I get? IRRITATION! Fake opinions! Tonnes of crap answers! Height of irrelevance! HUH! And the purpose of using the Internet goes to - HELL! HELL!! HELL!! >_< Now what should I do? Well simple, I would go and buy both the magazines, and compare them my way!And what does Internet gave me as information? NOTHING! All because of the rubbish crap being publicized by unfair means! huh! Maybe, I would like to post a neutral review about which one is better and why, which would be actually helpful, and atleast my blog won't be an irritating source of $#it information! (Pardon that part please!)

So, what I would like to say to all of you, my respected readers, please be cautious while looking at the info on the Internet. Clarify what you read from atleast 5 websites(of which atleast 2 should be trustworthy info sources), to know whether the information you got was correct or not, to know whether your use of the Internet was worth it or not! And try finding information about things you already know and are sure of your knowledge, so that you can be a more experienced user, and can find more trustworthy and original information sources!

The college is starting to get more tiring, and time consuming as the session is moving further. So I am not getting time to blog daily. So I was thinking to make posts on weekend, and then schedule them to publish one per day for the whole week. Bad Sectors! :O

There are few words that leave us open-mouthed when we see them in any reports that our Computer Maintenance Software generate, like , VIRUS and BAD SECTOR!

Both being super-common ones, but here we will discuss about Bad Sectors!

A bad sector is a sector on a computer's disk drive or flash memory that cannot be used due to permanent damage (or an OS inability to successfully access it), such as physical damage to the disk surface (or sometimes sectors being stuck in a magnetic or digital state that cannot be reversed) or failed flash memory transistors. It is usually detected by a disk utility software such as CHKDSK or SCANDISK on Microsoft systems, or badblocks on Unix-like systems. When found, these programs may mark the sectors unusable (all file systems contain provisions for bad-sector marks) and the operating system skips them in the future. Okay! Now I get it! er, what does it mean?! LOL! That's what our beloved Wikipedia says! :p Now lets simplify it! Before talking about a bad sector, do you know what is a sector?! Aha! That opens the eyes of the readers, super-wide! Well, a sector, can be simply understood as a part of storing disk. What I mean is that, we can consider the whole storage to be made up of small sectors, like a country made of states, states of cities, cities of areas, like that! Now if one area is affected by any problem, political, social, economical, etc. the city as a whole is affected, so also a part of the state, and thus, it can be said, there is some state of unrest in the nation in one part too! That's similar what happens with our Hard Disk Drive(HDD)! Sometimes some part of the disk gets damaged physically, which can have many reasons, like mechanical shocks and jerks, electrical surge, or permanent magnetisation of some parts of the disk(Actually its the magnetism that stores data in the disk! Amazing, isn't it! :D ). Now such physical damage, if results in inaccessibility of the files stored in that area, to the disk, it is called a bad-sector. Just like the way, an area highly affected by crime is non-desirable, inaccessible to many people, etc. etc.!

Now comes the fun part, why have I tagged this post as a fact! Now the interesting part says, BAD SECTORS CAN BE USEFUL TOO!!! Some CD and DVD copy protection schemes, use deliberately corrupt sectors in specific areas of the disc that are not accessed by most normal CD or DVD players. These bad sectors throw off copying programs because most copying programs read the entire disc, including these corrupt areas that a player would not access.

A few other tidbits from the survey:

* Developers believe that mobile and cloud development will increase the most in importance over the next three years

* 44 percent of respondents are actively engaged in multithreaded program development

* 49 percent indicated their intention to support smartphone platforms

* 42 percent intend to support tablet applications

Despite displacing Linux as a development environment, Mac OS has not displaced Linux as a development target. More than twice as many developers still primarily target Linux as target the Mac. But the Mac environment offers developers some niceties that seem obvious but are perhaps less understood.

I spoke with Jeremy Whitlock, core platform architect at Nodeable (disclosure: I am CEO of Nodeable), about why he chooses to develop on the Mac. Whitlock told me that the answer primarily comes down to convenience.

The Mac OS has the Unix toolchain that he prefers, it runs all of the open-source software that he needs for development, and it also provides the only legal way to develop for all platforms legally from one set of hardware--which is really about the fact that you can't legally do iOS/Mac application development without a Mac. You can't virtualize OS X on non-Mac hardware, and you can't run OS X on non-Mac hardware, at least not legally. Additionally, ever since Intel processors came into the mix, developers are more comfortable with the performance of Apple hardware.

When Lemon is sweeter than Sugar!

Hello All! Hope you all are doing well! ^_^

Ever considered the statement that I gave as the title to this post of mine? - Can Lemons be sweeter than Sugar? Well with a big laughter, the reader would say, "Man! Are you gone nuts?! Sugar tastes sweet and lemons taste sour! What sort of question is this? How can lemons be sweeter than sugar itself?!" And then I would say, just like I always say, "Its just the matter how you perceive things!"

You didn't get my point?! Wait, give me a chance to explain! :D

What if we make lemonade from lemons? Would it then be sweet? And you'd say, "Yes! But you added sugar to it!" But still, it would be sweeter than sugar, because it would have more qualities attached to it, like its refreshing behavior!

Now that makes lemon to be sweeter than sugar. Things seem to be simple when you have the answer, else they seem to be impossible. And when someone gives the answer, people are not ready to accept it and give different reasons to prove it wrong, somehow! We know that sweetness attracts everyone, and being sour/bitter turns people off. But what if the sweetness is just a false flattery that camouflages in itself some selfish, and destructive motives? Well such sweetness is of no use! And what if the bitterness/sourness got in itself tonnes of things for your betterment? Such bitterness becomes sweet!

So you see, its not the question of the name/appearance... Its the question of what the thing actually is. our abilities do make us what we are, but sometimes more than them, its our choices which make us who we are!

Firefox - A better Web Browser

I have bee using Firefox for more than 5 years now, and I would say I am a proud Firefox User. It is not only my opinion, but millions across the globe would agree that Mozilla Firefox is one of the best Internet Browsers they have used. There are several reasons for that.

#1 - Faster and Lighter - Mozilla Firefox is faster than the Internet Explorer that comes with your windows. I am not talking about web browsing, I am talking about functioning. Firefox executes faster and saves much of the precious RAM of your Computer letting you to have a faster experience with quite a good performance!

#2 - Open Source - Mozilla Corporation is a Open-Source Community, that means its source code can be shared/altered for free!

#3 - Inbuilt Accelerators - I don't know if its a myth or what, but I have experienced it myself, so it ain't a myth, atleast for me. When we download files from Internet Explorer and Firefox, Firefox downloads them faster.

#4 - Secure - hen it comes to security, none of the other browsers can beat Firefox. Safari, by apple, is considered to be one of the most easily-hackable Web Browser. The latest version of Google Chrome is also considered a hacker-friendly one! Internet Explorer, I don't think I have to discuss about it, we all know it already! HUH! Opera, yes, Opera can be one such browser that can get into competition with Firefox when it comes to security.

#5 - Free Apps - These days "apps" have become something that adds a certain glitter to everyone's eyes! Nobody can beat the amount of apps, plug-ins and all that have been made by Mozilla, users, fans, etc. for Firefox!

Fighting with my own shadows!

We all are peace loving creatures, even if we don't agree with it. We might be always acting aggressive, but when it comes to fighting, we all want to keep ourselves away from it. It might be because of several reasons, like, lack of courage, or when we know that we're wrong, or maybe we under-estimate ourselves, or over-estimate our opponent!

A simple way of get rid of the major problem, lack of courage, is to train ourselves. But how? We cannot enter into unnecessary arguments for that, NO! I am not trying to agitate you people. The thing is I want to ask, how many of you are ready to fight for the truth? And most of the time, what pulls you back? Insecurity? Fear? Fear of what? You know, you might think it to be fear of your opponent or like that, but actually, its the fear of your ownself. The thing we nurture with the most care in ourselves is our ego and why we fear defeat is that we are scared of shattering ego that, sadly, hurts! {Hush!}

A simple way is fighting your ownself. Again! - NOT HURTING YOURSELF, but to hurt your ego in bits and pieces. It is a very well said saying - "Nobody follows you in the dark, not even your shadow!" Abide to it. How? Well, again simple! When you would hurt your ego in a closed room, there would be no one you would have to fear and you can say yourself anything. Slowly you would be able to leave that cloak of ego, rather you won't need that Shadow to follow you anymore, and then! Just smile!! ^_^

#1 - I got time and time and time!!! - You are always free-minded. You can give time to your studies/profession, friends and family

#2 - I don't look at people with caution! - Its not silly! :p Its a fact that you won't be thinking strange things like, why did somebody did that, why did somebody say that, and all...

#3 - Say No To Tears! - LOL! This one is the best! :p I have seen so many friends of mine being sad when they are unable to talk to their partner, or something like that..

#4 - I am not lost, I know where I am, HELLO!! - You are not lost thinking about someone, thinking how to make them happy...Thinking how to look good, better, best, and all...

#5 - I am not Changing - They say that love is unconditional, but most of the people say, "I love you, but not this one thing about you! Please change it!" Now if you want somebody to change, how can you say you love 'em? You are trying to make them the way you want, and that means, you are changing them from them to somebody else!

One Dicey Issue - Seems Resolved

After 2 months holidays, it was my first day at college today, as a senior! Wooo! AS A SENIOR! Man! I can say that yet again - As A SENIOR! SENIOR! SENIOR! LOL! Well, that's gotta feel, you know! haha! But the problem that I was having in going to college was that, I was in a great dilemma! I was feeling strange in going back to an engineering college, where I never thought I will go back to. I always wanted to be a doctor, but alas! Couldn't get into medical, and that too with soo much double-trouble and all that I had been taking, I guess I why I couldn't. Anyways, I gathered strength and went to college. But as soon as I reached there, I didn't feel a bit strange! I was completely fine and the day went on smoothly and just too fine! ^_^ I was happy that the pieces of a mere, shattered childhood dream of being a doctor didn't interfere with my college experiences as a Senior in my college. One thing I learnt about myself today was a fact, that - "Nobody empowers me more than me, myself!" I don't share my sorrow or any experience that makes me sad with anyone(well when I say that I mean, sharing it is a too rare case, less than 0.01% chances). its not that I don't consider anyone worth it, NO! My friends are great and love 'em all, then maybe they be the real world friends, or maybe they be those I have met online on some social networking site! The reason why I don't share such things with people is that, these things are not worthy of being shared. Why should we share our unhappiness? I know its a saying - "Sorrow decreases when shared" But I disagree! Sorrow is something which we should not share with anybody. We should rather try and defeat it on our own, destroy it and come over any sad feelings we have! The reason why I say, I am the one who empowers me the most is that trying to face every situation of life that it offers me on my path, and that too on my own(as much as I can!) has always been a great help in developing me from a kid to a man. It strengthens me! It makes me realize who I am. It makes me know worth of my own powers. It makes me use my brain so that my intelligence is also tested and increased! So you see I am giving you a real life example that we can win over every situation if we keep faith in ourselves!

As the name suggests, Linux means Like-Unix. Linux is a Unix like Operating System. Linux can be installed on a wide variety of computer hardware, ranging from mobile phones to Desktop Computers!

Linux is a leading server operating system, and runs the 10 fastest supercomputers in the world! The Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Jaguar supercomputer, until recently the world's fastest supercomputer. It uses the Cray Linux Environment as its operating system. The development of Linux is one of the most prominent examples of free and open source software collaboration; typically all the underlying source code can be used, freely modified, and redistributed, both commercially and non-commercially, by anyone under licenses such as the GNU General Public License. A Linux-based system is a modular Unix-like operating system. It derives much of its basic design from principles established in Unix. I wanna share the About us page of my favorite band Poets of the fall with you all! Read it and you'll know why is this band the best!

Finnish rockers Poets of the Fall - singer Marko, guitarist Olli and keyboardist Captain - started out their musical adventure from scratch in 2003. Marko sold everything he had to invest in pursuing the love of his life, music, with his buddies Olli and Captain. He moved into his folks' basement, when he couldn't keep a place of his own any longer. The guys then built a little studio of their own in Captain's living room for the recording and producing sessions, and kept an office in Olli's beat up old car. The result of the recording sessions was a novel blend of pop, rock, metal and industrial sounds. Later the guys were joined by guitarist Jaska, bassist Jani and drummer Jari.

The band's first single was Late Goodbye, written for the acclaimed computer game Max Payne 2. Reaching millions of people through the game, the song went number one in Finland, and earned the guys international recognition and the first prize at the G.A.N.G. Awards in 2004.

Their debut album Signs of Life went straight to #1 on the Finnish album chart in January 2005, and stayed on the chart for over a year. The next album Carnival of Rust, released in April 2006, also hit the number one spot on its first week, with the debut album still on the official Top 40 chart. CMOS

CMOS refers to Complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor. It is a technology used for constructing integrated circuits. CMOS technology is used in many digital logic circuits.

Frank Wanlass patented CMOS in 1967.

Two important characteristics of CMOS devices are high noise immunity and low static power consumption. Significant power is only drawn when the transistors in the CMOS device are switching between on and off states. Consequently, CMOS devices do not produce as much waste heat as other forms of logic. CMOS also allows a high density of logic functions on a chip. It was primarily for this reason that CMOS became the most used technology to be implemented in VLSI chips.

The phrase "metal–oxide–semiconductor" is used as a metal gate electrode placed on top of an oxide insulator, which in turn is on top of a semiconductor material.

Just came to my mind, when we wish everybody a happy new year and all, why can't we wish a Happy new Month! I do it regularly, and I don't know how many of you do so, so just thought to share it with the whole world!! A happy August! Hope you all have a great month full of fun!! ^_^

By the way, we know its the eighth month of the Georgian Calendar. It is also called "Get Ready for Kindergarten Month"! LOL! In common years no other month starts on the same day of the week as August, though in leap years February starts on the same day. August ends on the same day of the week as November every year.

In Japanese, the month is called hachigatsu (八月), meaning, simply, "eighth month.　In classical Japanese the name is ”葉月”　Meaning, month of leaves".

August's birthstone is the peridot or onyx. Its birth flower is the gladiolus or poppy, meaning beauty, strength of character, love, marriage and family.

And most important, its my Birthday in this month!! LOL!!

Thyroid

The Thyroid is a butterfly shaped organ (or gland) located in the front of the neck, just below the voice box [LARYNX!], rather surrounding it, in the upper part of the Trachea(Wind pipe) in your neck. Like the liver, heart, kidney, and brain, the thyroid has specific function and role to play. In a normal adult, the Thyroid normally weighs 15 to 25 grams. It is known that it starts functioning even before birth! Thyroid originates from endoderm of embryo.

It secretes 3 hormones:

THYROXINE or TETRAIODOTHYRONINE (T4)
TRIIODOTHYRONIN (T3)
CALCITONIN (CT)

The thyroid hormones control various metabolic activities essential for energy, growth and development of the body. The thyroid must secrete them in required amount, greater or less amounts, than required, cause health complications to arise. The best way to keep oneself away from such disorders is the use of iodised salt in their diet!

Lack of iodine can cause thyroid disorder called, Iodine Deficiency Goitre.

T3 and T4 hormones are iodinated forms of the amino acid tyrosine. They maintain the Basal Metabolic Rate(BMR); promote growth of body tissues; and development of mental faculties. They control working of Kidneys and also promote tissue differentiation.

CT hormone regulates the concentration of Calcium and Phosphorus in blood. It is secreted when Calcium concentration rises in the blood. It then decreases the concentration of Calcium & phosphorus in the blood plasma by reducing their release from bones.

Graves disease and Myxoedema are caused by hypersecretion(more than required) and deficiency(less than required) release of Thyroid Hormones, respectively!

The Boon of Self-realization

No one in this world, be that person a scholar, doctor or a person of authority, can alleviate all the sufferings of an individual forever.

A doctor can alleviate physical ailments but is unable to deal with mental afflictions. A psychiatrist can help in mental disorders but is unable to tackle physical ailments. Morever, neither of them can relieve the pain of birth and death. But Self-realization, as such, removes all afflictions forever.

If you are dejected, sorrowful or grumble, your life force diminishes. Your loved ones will become estranged from you. But, when you remain cheerful, even strangers become friendly towards you.

It is rightly said, ‘The world laughs with one who laughs; nobody is interested in one who weeps.’

Cheerfulness of the chitta (Mind) is possible only through Self-realization. One, who has attained Self-realization, is forever free from the sorrows of birth and death, old age and sickness, for he considers that bodily afflictions like old age and sickness do not affect his True Self. Those who have the opportunity to imbibe the satsang of (Self-realization) are truly blessed. A person who regularly listens to satsang becomes elevated to a much higher state of mind than someone who earns millions. Many millionaires are languishing in hospitals in the U.S.A. They have no peace of mind, no happiness in life.

Therefore, the first principle is to be cheerful.

The second is to accept that God is our own, 'God is mine and I belong to Him.' The virtues earned by such a belief far outweigh those attained through fasting and penance. Bathing in the Ganges or performing Hom-havan (Fire sacrifices) is external (physical) sadhana. But one considers, “God is mine” in the mind. Therefore it is internal (mental) sadhana.

The third principle is smaran (Remembrance) and doing japa. Occasionally, one should confine oneself to a room and do japa of God’s name of one’s liking or the Guru-mantra.

What if one has no Guru…?

The life of those without a Guru is as futile as the ornamentation of a widow.

Even though they perform severe penance, vrata (A religious vow) and fasting, they fail to attain bliss and realize the spiritual heights that are easily experienced by the beloved disciples of a Guru. When one worships the Guru or the Lord, converses with Him and looks at His image with a fixed gaze without blinking, one experiences bliss. The heart becomes filled with bliss and one gets inspiration when one does japa while looking at the photo of the Guru. This increases one's inner happiness and contentment which in turn augments one's spiritual powers. Then worldly comforts follow you like a pet dog. Whether you make use of them, disregard them or distribute them is purely a matter of your own choice.

It is but natural that spiritual progress brings about material advancement.

Therefore being cheerful, believing that God is our own and that we belong to God, and doing smaran of the divine name along with constant japa, kirtan (Devotional songs), etc. purify the mind and the body, sharpens the intellect and finally leads to the realization of the True Self. And once having attained Self-realization, you will be saved from the sufferings of taking birth in 84 lacs of species.

Me, My School besties, and our band! Hello all! ^_^

0riginally consisting of high school friends, these Destined | Rockers, after graduating from high school,began to take their musical interests more seriously. The band emerged with an extraordinary appreciable concept of creating a VIRTUAL BAND. Yeah, it meant that there isn't any limit to the band members. The band stretches beyond boundaries of nation, culture, gender, caste and religion. None of them know that how are they gonna manage it all ! Our genre in specifically undefined, being just a group of artist with their own personal interest. Destined rockers is much like an institute for new artists than a music band. We currently got no voice, so we just write the lyrics, and after sharing them with people around on facebook, we see that we are doing a great job! Though we haven't yet thought of getting vocals and music, we are still in making due to limited resources and capital that can be invested(Well we are just students! HELLO!! Not working students! :/ ).

Standing still

in that battleground

with my head held low

no, not another blow

nor the reason being defeat

but the cry

of my blade

and that's why

my head ain't held high

I tried to fight

as long as I could

rather as long

as you hid

But that hardest blow

of truth that was never known

made me to face

that deadly defeat.

Blood started to pooze out

not by the wounds

caused by thy blade

but the unhealed wounds

that the truth scratched

and wrecked open

I ain't sad

coz. of the defeat

I ain't crying

coz. you ditched me

but I am sad

& I am cryin'

cause I had to kill you

The bond

that was formed between us

which I tended with all my love and care

Beautiful Seasons, Music of Nature, Orchestra of God

Hello All! ^_^

I just recall a nice excerpt from one of the chapters in my English textbook at school. The chapter was a play by Susan Hill, titled, "On the face of it". It goes as follows:

Mr. Lamb : I'm not fond of curtains. Shutting things out, shutting things in. I like the light and the darkness, and the windows open, to hear the wind.
Derry : Yes. I like that. When it's raining, I like to hear it on the roof.

Such beautiful lines these are, I must say! Some of us, sometimes get scared of the sounds of rain, the thunder, the sight of lightening, and all. But I enjoy them all. I love the huge orchestra god is playing up from the heaven, and how beautifully he makes the Nature play the music. I love the smell of the wet soil. I love the sound of falling water when it rains. I love the sky when there is lightening. I love the music of winds. I like the bedlam of leaves it makes in the autumn. I equally love the flowers in a beautiful spring. I love the sunshine during summers. I love the snow during winters. Such a beautiful and wonderful world it seems. So colorful as the seasons change. God shows his divine benevolence bestowing it upon us in the form of changing seasons. Enjoy every second of life you got. Enjoy every day. Enjoy every season. After all, God has done so much just to put an evergreen smile on the face of us all!

Strike Drugs before Strangle You!

Hello everybody! I was looking through my Cupboard today, I found some articles I have written during my school life. One of them was "Strike Drugs before the Strangle You!" . Though not written so well, but still worth sharing, I guess! So here it goes:

In todays world, everywhere one can find addicts. Some are sport addicts, some are party-addicts, some are addicts to movies, etc. and etc. But the most devastating addiction is of Drugs. Addiction start out of curiosity. Once you are curious about something you tend to try it out. Once you start liking it, you may become addicted to it. many addicts are friends generated, i.e., they become addicts because they feel inferior in front of their friends who are already addicts. Some come out of boredom. While others come out of stress, social alienation, unhappiness, etc. Drug addiction has not just one reason but many.Drug Addiction leads to loss of appetite, eye disorders, physical and mental disorders, and in worst cases lead to death. Drug Addicts generally have puffy eyes and are short tempered. Their mood changes suddenly and they start showing tantrums. To get rid of stress and problems (only psychologically!), the take drugs. However they make their own lives a hell and create large holes in their own pockets. Those who are unable gather enough money to buy drugs, find other like stealing, theft, robbery. Some may become decoits even. They start becoming burden, both socially and economically, on a society, or on the country as a whole!.

We must make our own relatives, friends, neighbors aware about the not so good effects of drugs on one's life. I think, the motto of one's life must be - "Strike Drugs Before They Strangle You!"

Scanning the partition - How to do it!

A great facebook friend of mine used to have a big problem with computer speed. After that I realised there would be many who would be having the same problem and won't be having the knowledge of such simple utilities such as Disk Defragmentation and Scandisk. So here is a short tutorial to how to scan a partition or as you say, a drive on your hard disk! Its simple and you can easily understand it through the screenshots. (Disk Defragmentation has been discussed earlier, check older posts for that).

Just open My Computer. Right Click on the drive you want to scan. Click Tools. Then Click "Check Now". Then tick the two boxes. NOTE - Tick both the boxes if your computer is too slow. If you are doing it for maintenance purpose, just tick the box that is above, I mean the one that says - "Automatically fix file system errors". Click Start. A pop-up would appear. Click Yes. and then restart your PC. Once you see that black booting screen with the logo of your Windows, the scan would start. NOTE - You cannot cancel the scan in middle. If you think you cannot give time for the scan right now, you get 10 seconds to cancel it before it starts. But after that, you'll have to set it again as told earlier!.

After making a few Philosophical posts, lets come back to some Computer Maintenance Tips!

So today we are discussing about Scandisk(As for Win98/Me) or you may call it Checkdisk(For WinNt and based). It is a special feature of Windows and a powerful tool to help you get rid of one of the most irritating problem - Slowing down of your PC or you may say, dieing performance! I know sometimes its too astonishing to know that, "What? I get a powerful tool pre-installed in Windows? In Microsoft Windows? Are you sure man?! You must be kidding, right?!" LOL! But its true and I ain't kidding! :p

This feature displays the file system integrity status of hard disks and floppy disk and can fix logical file system errors. yes, it fixes errors on its own! Hurray! :D Since Win98/Me have almost died off, and more than 99% Windows users use WinXP or WinVista or Win7, so let me tell you the advantage of their Checkdisc. Their Checkdisc feature can also check the disk surface for physical errors or bad sectors. Amazing, isn't it? Though in NT based Windows versions Checkdisc was to be run from Windows Shell, but since these new Operating Systems are having user-friendly environments so we can do it from our My Computer very simply! :D

Learning to walk? - Walk Alone

When we took our first lesson of walking, we fell too many times, but still we tried again and again to walk. Why? because we knew somebody would help us out because it was our parents/guardians with us to save us from being hurt. But was it so easy? Were we never hurt? yes we were and many times. Then why do we give up so easily in front of the adversities that life throws our way?! Are we still thinking that somebody would help us walk on the path of life? The answer is no, rather a Big NO! Its not that our friends or loved ones aren't there for us, but if we won't learn to do things without their help, if we won't learn to live alone, we would be missing an important chapter of the book of life!

I myself have got many friends and I too miss them when I need them, but it doesn't mean I stop fighting my path if they are not around. I love my family and friends, but frankly speaking, I am not at all thinking that if I be in a problem, there would be anyone who would come to help me. I don't have any grudges against anyone, its just that I have learned through my experiences in life. I have learned that whenever a challenge comes in front of us, we must try our level best, it not just helps us realize our true potential, but it also enhances our limits. I remember it very well, an English teacher at my school used to say this too much - "For a smart fellow, sky is the limit!" I was around 14 year old, when I heard this line for the first time, and from that day I have added it to list of my favorite quotes that I never forget!

Life offers us so many opportunities to realize what we are, and how to make ourselves self reliant, but alas! many of us let the golden chance go and then we cannot even regret. The reason? We consider them adversities. We are unable to see that they were actually opportunities to connect with our inner-self, those were opportunities camouflaged in the form of adversities.

So have faith in yourself, and learn to be self-reliant, only then you can fight your way to victory!

Addiction and Slavery, Almsot Synonyms!

Hello All!

I guess the title of my post is enough to make you understand what would be there in this post of mine! LOL! Addiction and Slavery are not too different from one another if we think over it. The only difference being, slavery involves a living master though addiction involves a psychological master!

All of us have certain desires and when they are not fulfilled it is quite obvious that we feel bad about it. But sometimes, this feeling gets soo strong that we are unable to curb it and then, we fall into a well of sadness. It is not that difficult to come out of it, but once we lose hope, it is nearly impossible to come out of it, and then we keep on falling as if it was endless! Instead of realizing our own true potential, we tend to fall for other means of momentary Euphoria, which ends up being a slow poison, stealing us from ourselves, and killing us slowly, silently!

The major things one resorts to are drugs, alcohol, and smoking. Three deadly poisons which one can get easily addicted to. In worse situations, people tend to resort to the fourth and more addictive one, which is not only unethical, but also silently seeping away your strength, both mental and physical. The fourth one I am talking about is Sex!

Anger, frustration and depression are the keys that open doors to these catacombs of doom. It is not that we don't have to be angry, but frustration and depression? Why???? Why can't we just control that part? I know its difficult sometimes, but if we keep faith in ourselves and in god then nothing is difficult. I am not trying to preach anything to you all, I am just trying to give a simple lesson that more you stay away from these keys, farther you are from the doom! The world is not ending in December 2011, but if the current ways of leading an idiotic life continue, December 2011 is too far, you never know what might be your last day! I know your temporary Euphoria doesn't allows you to think these things to be bad, but if you want to live a life that is actually a life, that is called the gift of god, that is a beautiful thing, you have to get rid of you addiction, else you should know that you are no better than a slave!

Yes, the glass is half empty!

Its quite an old saying that, "Never look at the glass as half empty, look it as if its half filled!"

But I say, let the old saying go now! The people these days are not ready to understand such old sayings and take them as Out-Dated. So now is the time to introduce the new one. The quote should now be - "Never look at the glass as half filled, look it as if its half empty!" No this is not pessimistic! All I want to say is that yes, the glass is half empty. If we look at the glass being half empty and make it our prime goal to fill this half empty part of the glass then we are at the right path. If we make it our target that yes, we will fill that empty space, then we will see that the glass wasn't of double the size our capabilities, but it was double the size of our efforts, our mindset, our psyche, our thinking!

All we need to do is make a decision and a promise that we will fill it come what may, and then we shall see the glass was too small in front of our capabilities! If we try we won't lose ever, and if we keep faith in ourselves and hold firm to our decisions and promises, we would certainly emerge victorious! Now you won't call me a pessimist, right?

God Realization is Pretty Simple

I make original posts only, but this time I would like to copy an article from a website, link of which I have shared at the end.

Self-Realization becomes very easy for those who consider God

To be the Supreme Reality and endeavour to attain Him.

'Shri Yoga Vashishtha Maharamayana' propounds that God is not far from us, there is no distinction between Him and us and it is not difficult to realize Him either.

Indeed it is not difficult to realize God and yet it seems difficult, because we do not listen to or contemplate on divine knowledge and hence we fail to develop love for Him. Just as one who is illiterate and has not practised reading and writing thinks that it is difficult, so too one who has not practised spiritual discipline thinks that it is difficult to attain God. However if he practises spiritual contemplation, it is not difficult at all. During the formative years in school, learning the alphabets appeared quite cumbersome, but today you can write them with ease; so is the case with respect to God. Practice alone brings perfection and is the key to success!

'My brother slapped me'' the memory causes pain. Find out who feels the pain. Pain is felt in the mind. Be a witness to your mind and the pain will disappear. Your body is sick and is paining. Be a witness to the aching body and you will laugh at it. Once this (my) body suffered from a malarial fever and an adverse reaction of anti-malarial drugs. A severe pain left me groaning. I would ask my body, 'Hey! What is this nonsense' Why do you groan'' 'and laugh out at its condition. Then I would tell my mind, 'Keep groaning. I am watching you.' 'and it would stop groaning. Those who saw me were extremely pained and would secretly shed tears, 'What a painful state!' But I did not feel that way. The body suffered the pain and I watched it like a detached observer. Once this practice is developed, one can see oneself as a separate entity from the body, even in deep slumber. Like we observe another person, we can observe our own body. Sustained practice increases the subtlety of the intellect and one can develop such witness attitude towards the world.

Similarly, we can become a witness to even pleasures and pains. If one practises being a detached witness, it becomes easy. An actor in a play claims, 'I am king Vikramaditya' I will not allow this to happen in my kingdom'' but in his heart he knows what he is. In the very next scene he dons the garb of a beggar and evokes a sense of profound sympathy among the audience. Only a while ago he was acting the part of an emperor and now he is playing the role of a beggar. But he knows fully well that he is only playing a role. Similarly, he who practises detachment from the body, transcends pleasures and pains.

The deceitful, dishonest and cunning people cannot succeed in this endeavour. The more innocent and honest one becomes, the quicker progress he achieves on this path. Identifying oneself with the body and trying to seek happiness in this illusory world, assuming it to be real, is at the root of all cunning and deceitful acts. Howsoever dishonest one may be, if he starts believing in the truth of his own Divine Self and comes to realize the futility of this world, his deceitfulness and vices will disappear and he will soon attain greatness.

So long as one is ignorant about the glory and greatness of Self-realization, one suffers all types of misery. Treachery, deceit and other vices exist only so long as people do not realize the importance of Self-realization and appreciate that God alone is the Absolute Reality. Once one realizes the importance of satsang and of Self-realisation, gradually one's mind becomes pure; deceit and treachery begin to wither away and all complaints disappear. Then one will admit to have committed mistakes and will be ready to rectify them as well, rather than making excuses for the same. One, not inclined towards Self-realization, tries to give excuses when a mistake is pointed out to him; thus unwittingly he only strengthens his own faults, little realising that he is hurting nothing but his own interests.

Those, who have become used to giving excuses and practising deceit and dishonesty, impede their road to real progress in life. Those trying to cheat others are badly cheated by some greater cheat. A fraud is bound to suffer the consequences of his evil deeds and dishonesty engages one in evil pursuits with their root cause lying in the erroneous notion of taking the body and this world to be real. When the world is taken for real and one remains engrossed in the thoughts of this world, having no love or devotion towards the Supreme Self, it becomes the root of all misery.

Self-realization becomes very easy for those who consider God to be the Supreme Reality and endeavour to attain Him. Self-realization becomes easier still when the aspirant renders sincere and selfless service only for the sake of attaining Divine love, Divine grace and Divine knowledge. Such an aspirant realizes God very soon and is also delivered from all his troubles forever. He experiences Self-love and an everlasting contentment in the unity of his True Self with the Bliss-personified Supreme Self.

Taking down the obstacles?

Obstacle, something which makes the path difficult to walk on. But at the same time being something important which gives us the power both mental and physical to trod them off our paths! The obstacles have been a great metaphor for the difficulties one faces in his or her life. Once we get rid of any obstacle we feel victorious and elated. But how many of us become happy to see an obstacle in our path? Well, I would proudly say, I become happy on seeing them! Why?? Because it gives me a reason to fight. It gives my mind a reason to gather enough courage to face a problem. There are so many ways we can get rid off the problems in our life, but the toughest one is solving them alone, on our own. And you know what? The most difficult method is the most important one. It makes us know of our hidden powers. It makes us realize our true potential. It has so many advantages that they are enough to overpower the ease of the other ways! Many of us do blame god for not being fair with us when we see adversities in our life. It is all because we are unable to see the hidden meaning behind them. The theory of karma fits too good over here, but if we don't talk about it, we can still justify the presence and importance, yes, the importance of obstacles/problems in our lives!

Just as I said before, it is all how we look at things. If you try to welcome the problems and challenge them, then you would certainly get tougher and tougher and easily take down any obstacle in life! Just remember the golden rule of taking down the obstacles is "REMAIN FIRM, REMAIN CALM, BE COURAGES, FACE IT, FIGHT IT, AND NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON IT!"

Be courageous to face any problem in life and with that courage fight the problem and get rid of it! Just throw it off your life!! Remain firm and calm, so that you don't tend to lose most of your energy burning it in the fire of anger or ego. Anger and ego are two things which ruin this golden rule of ours. Whenever you find a problem which you think you can not solve yourself, then NEVER ASK FOR OTHER'S HELP. Tell the problem that you are not scared of it and you will win over it! I believe in god so I say always believe in him and remember him always, but even if you don't, still you can do one thing for the almighty, Please don't give up and fight till your last breath!

4 reasons why Linux is at par with Windows!

I can post this again, and again and yet again! Linux is simply better than Windows in so many respects! Let me give you some of the reasons why I say so

#1 - Linux is Open-Source Unix like Operating System. Oh what does that mean?! Well, Linux is Open-Source, that means, the source code of Linux can be used and changed by anyone and everyone for non-commercial use and for License Holders(which is quite easy to get for those who need it) for commercial uses. (Source - My knowledge)

#2 - Most of the softwares and utilities are available free of cost, even the Operating system(many Linux based operating Systems) are available free of cost, for ex, Ubuntu. (Source - My knowledge)

#3 - Linux is SUPERFAST! You can get a hint of it from the FACT that Linux runs the 10 fastest supercomputers of the world! (Source - Wikipedia)

#4 - Linux is much more secure than Windows. Now there are more reasons for this one. (Source - Internet and my knowledge combined!)

Except for the root, no user gets privileges to edit the system files in Linux. So you see, your psyche won't help you play with system files of Linux the way you did with your Windows!
Most of the viruses are executable files, i.e., ".exe" files. Linux doesn't supports ".exe" as such(though plugins might allow, but that is a different case).
Instead of registry, Linux got Configuration files which, as said earlier, are inaccessible to NORMAL USER, and thus your system becomes more secure. You may note a point that Viruses store their information in registry sometimes, so that if you happen to delete them, they can come back from the registry to re-infect your PC. This problem is overcome in Linux.

Disk Defragmentaion! - How to do it!

So earlier I posted about Disk Defragment, a really handy tool which can help boost up your PC speed. Now here it is how to do it. Though there are many softwares for it, for example, Tuneup Utilities but they are not free. So, what comes to the rescue here? Hey!! Its you Windows!! :D Cool? oh Unbelievable?! hahaha! I know, I know, but its true, it is a feature included in your windows, though TuneUp Utilities got tonnes of advantages, but we won't discuss them right now, someday later maybe! :)

So, using Windows Defrag is extremely simple and I have illustrated it using screenshots from my own PC! :)

STEP - 1 - Open My Computer. Right Click on any Partition as shown below, and hen click Properties

STEP - 2 - Click on "Tools" Tab

STEP - 3 - Click on "Disk Defragment" Button

STEP - 4 - Click on "Analyze" Button

STEP - 5 - READ CAREFULLY!!! - On cliking analyze button, another pop-up window will open that would say either "You should defragment" else "You should not defragment" If it says you should defragment, YOU MUST DEFRAGMENT! and when it says you need not, then see the report. If the % of fragmented files is more than 5% then you should defragment!

Disk Defragmentaion!

A simple, though long, but a highly efficient way of keeping your PC working fine, I mean in terms of speed(if its not malware!) is Disk Defragmentation! Disk Defragmentation is just as the name suggests the process in which the fragmented parts of the data stored on your Hard Disk Drive would get defragmented or you can say would get combined. Actually the problem is that most of us use Windows, though a great Operating System, but when it comes to storing the files? Well! its a havoc! A disaster!! Highly inefficient!!! What happens is that when we store huge amount of data, or rather when we store a file with a big file size(example, any CD-Image) the Windows store it in parts or fragments. The more older your Windows gets, plus the more time between two Defragmentation processes is, the more far away these parts are stored(understand it this way!). Now when the parts are far away in the Disk, your Operating System has to do more work while executing a singly file, because it has to run all the parts. Now that causes the execution to get a bit slower, and as time passes, it keeps on getting slower, and slower and Slower! So what comes to the rescue?! Of course! Disk Defragmentation! It is a time consuming process, but you don't have to do it time and again...You may say, erm, once every 3 months. The Disk Defragmentation process brings together these fragments and hence help save the execution time for those files when we run them. You may call it one of the most efficient and the best way to get your PC a speed boost!!

A Fact about rabbits

In rabbits(Oryctolagus cunniculus), cellulose is partly digested in the caecum by bacteria that secrete the enzyme cellulase for this purpose. Simplified cellulose escapes with soft, semifluid, light-coloured faeces passed out at night. These faeces are eaten up by the rabbits directly from the anus, and passed through the gut again. Now the simplified cellulose is fully digested and the products of digestion are absorbed. The faeces passed out during day are in the form of dark, firm, pallets and are not eaten. This habit of passing food through the gut twice is called coprophagy or refection.

Flowers or Cactus - Just the way you think!

Hello all!

A well said quote is:

Friends are like flowers!

Now lets universalize this one from friends to relations...Oh yes, relationships are beautiful just like flowers...But flowers require so much of care, and yes so do the relationships too else they both wilt or one may say die off!

But why?! Why do relationships have to be like flowers? Beautiful but weak, aren't they? According to me, relationships must be like Cactus, tough to survive all kinds of habitats and weathers, and at the same time, protected by the thorns so that no outsider can ruin it. But what of flowers? They won't understand that you are unable to give them water for sometime because you are busy, and what would happen then?! They would die off certainly, and that too in no time...I have no grudges against flowers! LOL! But I have problems when one say that their relationship is strong, their relationship is like flower, or they say, Cactus can't be symbol of love!

I say, its all how we look at things, even a cactus can be beautiful, its all how you perceive things...A cactus tries to strengthen its position by using its roots to penetrate deep into the land but what of a flower? Anybody might ruin it! A cactus on the other hand, remains unaffected most of the time!

I am just saying the things that I feel like, though I know not everyone would agree with me, but try and think once, why only a flower to be gifted and cactus to be seen with hate? They both are living and so both contain life. Moreover a cactus is tougher and survives everything!
