Happy Mother's Day - Super Sunday

Hello everybody! :) How are my dear readers doing?! :D

It's not just a Sunday or a Super Sunday today, it's something bigger than that today. It's Mother's Day! :D The day dedicated to all the mothers in the world. If I try to define the word mother, I would say, "Mother is that incarnation of god, who bears immense pain and trouble to give us birth. She continues to share her happiness with her child by fulfilling all his/her desires even if that means no room for her own desires!"

Mother's Day is a celebration that honors mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in March, April, or May. It complements Father's Day, a celebration honoring fathers.

Celebrations of mothers and motherhood occur throughout the world. Many of these trace back to ancient festivals, like the Greek cult to Cybele, the Roman festival of Hilaria, or the Christian Mothering Sunday celebration. However, the modern holiday is an American invention and not directly descended from these celebrations. Despite this, in some countries Mother's Day has become synonymous with these older traditions.

Why I call mother as God is simple. She is the one who does everything for the child. She bears her child in her womb, sharing everything she eats or drinks with the young one growing inside. She takes care of him/her night and day. It is also said that the pain a mother bears during the birth of the child is many times the pain that a human body can survive. That certainly shows her pure love for the child.

In India, Mother's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May. In India mothers are considered as god to their children. The Indians do not celebrate the occasion as a religious one, but do their best to thank their mothers for care and love. Mother's day 2012 is being celebrated on 13th May. That is a tradition in India to give a highest position to mothers. As the spiritual background is so effective in India so Indians celebrates this day with lots of respect to their mothers. I am proud to be an India! :D

I would like to bow respectfully before all the mothers around the globe to thank them for all their love because of which we breathe today. If you weren't there, not only we would have been non-existent, but, our lives would not have been liveable! I love my mother more than any other person in the whole world.

Today's scenario sometimes makes me think that how the actions of current generation badly hurts their parents. I would like to ask all of them to pay respect to their parents always. Maybe they scold us, but their anger is filled with love. They cannot take it that their child is going the wrong way or is in trouble. That's why they end up being angry and sometimes scold us. Please don't take it that bad, they are your parents! It's their duty to see to it that their child turns out to be a good person in future. So I would like to appeal to all of you, always respect your parents. That would be the highest gift you can give to them. There is nothing the world you could do to repay whatever they did for you, so atleast on these special days make them feel to be the most special persons in your life!

Some great lines I would like to quote here, I found these on various websites:

When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts.

A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child. Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs... since the payment is pure love.

The heart of a home is a mother
Whose love is warm and true,
And home has always been "sweet home"
With a wonderful mother like you!

"M" is for the Million things she gave me,
"O" means Only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the Tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her Heart of purest gold,
"E" is for her Eyes, with love-light shining,
..."R" means Right, and Right she'll always be.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

Mother's Day Poems

"I love you,"
said a great mother.
"I love you for what you are
knowing so well what you are.
And I love you more yet, child,
deeper yet than ever, child,
for what you are going to be,
knowing so well you are going far,
knowing your great works are ahead,
ahead and beyond,
yonder and far over yet."

by Carl Sandburg

The family
is like a garden
with joy
for all to share,
With tender, growing blossoms
that thrive on love
and care,
And when
the flowers are gathered
for a very special day,
They make
a bright and beautiful
happiness bouquet.

I know a place that's paradise
For "gamesters" of all sorts~
For young and old competitors,
For in~and~outdoor sports.

The tournaments get under way
Each Saturday at dawn~
With board games on the carpet
And baseball on the lawn.

There's poker played for bottle caps
And football just for kicks,
Plus every other kind of thrill
From jacks to pick-up-sticks.

This living room Las Vegas,
This backyard Astrodome
Is always where the action is
And best of all~it's home!
